We are looking for a thoughtful and detail oriented individual to join our Accounting Department as a Senior Accountant. This position handles a variety of accounting tasks, including bank reconciliation, asset management, fleet, miscellaneous receivables, installment loans, and damage claims. As part of BEC’s Accounting Team, the Senior Accountant assists the department in maintaining and updating a wide range of financial reports, statements, budgets, and ledgers, as well as providing support with ongoing projects within both the department and organization.
Duties and Responsibilities
Prepares ledgers, journals, registers, and subsidiary records in conformance with a uniform system of accounting.
Prepares month and year-end financial and statistical reports as needed.
Provides support for semimonthly employee payroll checks and all related reports.
Provides required factual data to be used for the development of work plans, budgets, and financial forecasts.
Responsible for review and billing of damaged claims, retiree insurance and Energy Saver/Solar Installment loans
Responsible for internal and external reporting to include, but not limited to, property tax renditions, TCOS, EIA-861, etc.
Assists the department with the process of balancing and reconciliation of the general and subsidiary accounts and ledgers, monthly budget reporting, and annual financial audits.
Cordially and efficiently assist other employees or BEC cooperative members with questions or complaints.
Qualifications and Requirements
Education
Bachelor’s degree in business or accounting from an accredited college or university. Three years of accounting experience may substitute for each year of college.
Experience
Ten years of related experience is preferred.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
In depth understanding of accounting systems
Excellent computer skills
Detailed knowledge of Excel and other applications within the Microsoft Office Suite of products
Excellent problem-solving skills with the ability to identify alternative and practical solutions.
Self-motivated, proactive thinker, flexible with ability to work with minimal supervision.
Supportive team player.
Excellent customer service skills.
Good verbal and written communication skills.
Must have valid Texas driver’s license and related insurance.
Working Conditions
Work is primarily in a climate-controlled environment with minimal safety/health hazard potential. Working under time sensitive schedules and stressful deadlines should be expected. Tobacco free, professional office environment. Some irregular hours that include nights, weekends and holidays may be necessary.
Hybrid, work from home, arrangements are available for this team. However, scheduled time in the office will be required.
Physical Requirements
Sedentary, sitting, walking, occasional lifting (overhead, waist level) from floor, bending, frequent near vision use for reading and computer use; infrequent stressful conditions (cardiovascular)
