We are looking for a full-time Physical & Health Education Teacher to join us on a fixed-term contract. Guided by the BC Ministry of Education curriculum, our program centres on a student-centred, inquiry based collaborative approach to learning. The Physical and Health education program in the Junior School builds physical literacy and an introduction to athletics for young learners. The successful candidate will join a vibrant, innovative school community focussed on personal excellence, whole child development, and overall wellbeing.
This role will run from late August to December 2023 with the possibility of extension.

Responsibilities:
Plan the Physical and Health education curriculum in a team-based, collaborative approach
Implement dynamic and interactive lessons
Consider the diverse needs of students in your planning and teaching, offering a range of entry points and extensions to accommodate the needs of individual learners
Utilize a variety of assessment techniques that allow for timely, transparent, and strengths-based communication of learning
Develop a student-centered, inquiry-based, positive and supportive culture for learning
Integrate technology into teaching and learning in meaningful ways
Provide supervision of students during non-instructional time
Establish a strong parent partnership
Engage in ongoing teacher professional growth
Participate in school wide events and experiences including outdoor education, service projects, and leadership development
Participate in a comprehensive co-curricular program
Previous experience teaching in physical & health education would be an asset
Understanding on how to support diverse learning styles at an elementary level
Knowledge of “Teaching Games for Understanding”, an asset
Collaborative and energetic with a passion for teaching
Excellent written and oral communication skills
Demonstrated ability to be innovative, flexible, highly organized with attention to detail
Energy, commitment, and readiness to participate in the co-curricular program and the diverse life of the school community
