The Assistant Dean for Career Services at the University of Texas School of Law leads the strategic vision and day-to-day operations of the Career Services Office (CSO). This involves comprehensive oversight of the mission of the office, including program and policy development, employer outreach, student counseling, staff supervision, and reporting data to meet accreditation and other institutional needs.
Responsibilities
Oversee the mission and direction of the Career Services Office (CSO).
Develop and implement recruiting and interviewing policies and procedures for employers and students.
Manage the daily operations of the CSO, including supervision of our counseling and coaching team and administrative staff.
Conduct employer outreach and maintain and expand our relationships with employers.
Provide career counseling to students, recent graduates and alumni.
Oversee the development of resources and programs for student career exploration, professional development, and job interviewing.
Oversee compilation and reporting of statistics related to employment outcomes.
Participate on the Dean’s leadership team.
Other related responsibilities and functions as assigned.
Required Qualifications
JD degree. Eight or more years of legal experience. Experience leading/managing a team of five or more people. Excellent oral and written communication skills. Ability to represent Texas Law effectively in the external legal community. Strong organizational skills and demonstrated attention to detail.
Relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.
Preferred Qualifications
Prior experience working in a Career Services setting for two or more years. Experience in the following areas: working in an institution of higher education; managing a staff of ten or more people; overseeing a budget.
