The Team: The Emissions Technical team is part of the newly formed Centre of Emissions Excellence within Commodity Insights. This team works across Commodity Insights businesses to support and advance the development of greenhouse gas emission modelling capability. They coordinate and collaborate with various teams to expand our emissions offerings and capabilities and works to connect them across our businesses.
The Impact: This is a critical role, in a newly formed group tasked with advancing our GHG and carbon intensity estimation capability across Commodity Insights-from development and advancement of upstream emission models to downstream refining or petrochemical emissions. This team will help shape, the tools, methods, and overall S&P Global Commodity Insights product offering and engage externally on technical emissions efforts.

Responsibilities:
Work as part of team of emission technical experts who are charged with supporting the build-out of emission estimation and quantification capabilities across Commodity Insights businesses
Provide thought leadership and engage in conversations around best practices on emission estimation and quantification.
Contribute to written reports, detail estimates, act as a focal point on emission accounting practices, and provide direction on future research areas.
Research topics will encompass broad aspects of processes, industry, commodities, and products across the energy value chain.
Develop relationships with internal and external stakeholders to communicate findings, collaborate on key initiatives, and facilitate the development of project/initiative deliverables.
What We're Looking For:
GHG estimation and life-cycle carbon accounting knowledge/work experience is required. Demonstrated understanding of fundamental life-cycle GHG accounting practices as well as understanding of potential GHG emission sources from various commodity sectors.
Broad understanding of different energy supply chains and commodities such as oil and gas, petrochemicals, hydrogen, biofuels, metals and mining etc.
Proficient with large datasets with strong skills in Microsoft Excel, databases and various cloud-based platforms.
Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment and ability to navigate and excel in a complex, matrix organization, and relate successfully to a variety of people externally and internally.
Requires highly effective verbal and written communication skills and excellent interpersonal skills at all levels of business to enable effective/productive communications with key people including senior and executive level clients.
Strong attention to detail in work and efficient time management skills.
Bachelor's degree in engineering, science, environmental science, or industry-related fields required; graduate degree is preferred.
