Job Description Under administrative direction, is responsible for planning and directing the recruitment, conditioning, training, and performance of the ASU Sun Devil Athletics Beach Volleyball team members and the competition of the team in intercollegiate programs. Promotes intercollegiate athletics as an integral part of the university, assuming full responsibility for the success of team performance and for students in meeting academic performance and eligibility criteria. Reports to the Senior Associate Athletics Director. Adheres to NCAA and Pac-12 rules and regulations, as well as the policies and procedures of the department, the University and the Arizona Board of Regents.

Essential Duties
Ensures team development to be competitive in the upper half of the Pac-12 conference.
Adheres to and enforces all policies and procedures of the Department and University as well as the rules and regulations of the NCAA, Pac-12 Conference, and other authorities that may legitimately influence the intercollegiate athletics program.
Promotes an atmosphere of compliance with NCAA and Pac-12 rules and regulations within the Women’s Beach Volleyball program and monitors activities of all coaches and administrators who report, directly or indirectly, to the coach.
Oversees the recruitment and selection of student-athletes.
Ensures compliance with NCAA guidelines for contacting and entertaining prospects.
Initiates the process for determining academic eligibility and issuing of National Letters of Intent.
Promotes the academic progress of student-athletes by working closely with the Office of Student Athlete Development and supporting related programs.
Assists in enforcing study hall attendance for freshmen and others with grade deficiencies.
Monitors eligibility status of student-athletes by working closely with the Athletics Compliance Office.
Manages the Women’s Beach Volleyball program within the framework of a balanced budget.
Schedules and conducts regular practice sessions in and out of season, as permitted by NCAA rules and regulations.
Develops and implements strategies for motivating student-athletes to perform at maximum levels as both individuals and a team.
Arranges a competitive event schedule, in conjunction with assigned administrator.
Coordinates team travel with assigned administrator.
Oversees the conditioning and training of team members, in conjunction with the Head Strength Coach, the Head Trainer, and Team Physician to ensure that student-athletes are physically prepared for competition.
Supervises assigned assistant coaches and other support staff to ensure their compliance with applicable rules, policies, and procedures.
Provides orientation, training, and guidance as needed.
Conducts performance evaluations and recommends salary increases as requested.
Participates in clinics, exhibitions, and camp activities assigned or as approved.
Assists with approved fundraising activities and other activities as requested.
Participates in public relations activities, to include speaking engagements, television and radio interviews, and press conferences as approved or assigned.
Compiles data and reports to meet departmental and university requirements.
Provides student-athletes with information on opportunities to compete at national and international tournaments, meets, etc., in conjunction with the Senior Associate Athletics Director and the Office of Student Athlete Development.
Cooperates with all other sports coaches within the intercollegiate athletics department to enhance the smooth operation of the department.
Performs other related duties and special projects assigned by the Director of Athletics or the Senior Associate Athletics Director.
Required Minimum Qualifications Bachelor's degree in a related field AND five years’ experience in coaching the designated sport at the college/university/or professional level; OR, any equivalent combination of experience and/or education from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities have been achieved.
Desired Qualificiations
Beach Volleyball experience as a Head Coach or full-time Assistant Coaching at the NCAA Division I or equivalent level (strongly preferred). (5years)
Experience coaching with an NCAA Division top-20 program (strongly preferred).

Experience in coaching and/or competing as an athlete in the designated sports program at the college and/or university, Elite Club, or professional level.

Working Environment
Activities are performed in an environmentally-controlled office setting subject to periods of sitting, keyboarding and manipulating a computer mouse, as well as in an environmentally-controlled indoor facility and outdoor facility, subject to weather and extreme temperatures;
Required to stand for varying lengths of time and walk/run moderate distances to perform work.
Frequent bending, reaching, lifting, pushing and pulling up to 25 pounds.
Regular activities require ability to quickly change priorities, which may include and/or are subject to resolution of conflicts.
Ability to clearly communicate verbally, read, write, see and hear to perform essential functions.
Extensive traveling in various modes of transportation (car, van, bus, plane) to perform essential functions.
May be required to work some nights, weekends and holidays, per team needs and schedule.
