This role provides technology expertise and support for energy market applications to improve the business systems processes and strategies.
Analyzes and tests new and existing system workflows; maintains user role security and support, creates dashboards, reports, trains users and supports other critical business functions in the applications. Aids in process improvement activities and in development of procedures and policies for the advancement of both Finance and Operations divisions.
The goal of the Business System Analyst (BSA) position is to ensure that software solutions are effectively maintained, used, and updated to meet the needs of the business.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
Update information in applications, complete testing, apply updates and releases to support business functions for front, mid and back-office software solutions including power billing and market software applications
Update application rules, scripts, dashboards and reports as needed for new rates, new customers, MISO changes, and changes in metering and settlements
Train and support end-users and maintain user role security
Work with business owners to create efficient processes and documentation
Support all business functions which use the applications especially during month-end processing
Create reports, set up dashboards, analyze data and trending information
Ensure compliance and participate in compliance audits
Identify, designate and train a secondary business analyst as needed
Other duties and projects as assigned
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Extensive knowledge of process improvement, data management, and business application support, processes, practices, and techniques
Experience setting up reports, dashboards, queries, and trending/analyzing data to support business requirements
Education and Experience:
Three years’ experience as a Business Systems Analyst
Bachelor’s degree in business or IT or a related field; or equivalent experience
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
Experience in implementing software implementation projects beneficial
Knowledge of Microsoft D365 software beneficial
Knowledge of MS365 and Power BI beneficial
Knowledge of SCADA, MV90 and MV-PBS or utility billing and metering software beneficial
Experience working for a utility generation and transmission cooperative beneficial
Experience working with front, back office and MISO settlements beneficial
Working knowledge of database queries (theory and design)
Excellent verbal and written communication skills with internal and external customers
Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
