Golden Valley Electric Association (GVEA) is looking for an energetic individual as our Assistant Dispatcher-in-Training, Level I as part of the Power Supply Team located in Fairbanks, Alaska. This full-time IUOE position earns a competitive starting wage of $42.26 hourly including excellent benefits.
A day in the life of an Assistant Dispatcher-in-Training, Level I can look like:
Under supervision, become proficient in the safe and efficient operation of the computer-based SCADA/EMS system. Assist with the coordination of "real time" operation of electrical generation, transmission and distribution facilities. Use excellent communication skills to receive of trouble calls and dispatching line crews for power restoration and help maintain security of facilities.
Eligibility
High school diploma or the equivalent.
This position requires successful and timely completion of the GVEA dispatch training requirements. Upon successful completion of an examination, the position will be upgraded to a System Dispatcher.
Demonstrated knowledge of basic electricity and desktop computing systems.
Minimum of three years experience in power system operation or energy marketing or five years experience in distribution, transmission or power plant operations.
Demonstrated experience using personal computers.
