Some of the responsibilities for the system operations engineer include:
- Develop expertise with system modeling techniques used in the EMS system and PSS/e to ensure the model produces an accurate and useful result to support transmission system operations and planning to ensure all North American Electric Reliability Council (NERC) requirements are met.
- Develop and implement standards for Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) system including descriptions, alarm thresholds, and operator response requirements.
- Plan, schedule and coordinate planned maintenance activities requested by Engineering and Construction, the Member Cooperatives, Operations departments, and all other parties as required to maintain system reliability.
- Provide input and engineering advice in the overall design and implementation of system improvements such as transmission lines, substations, and/or transmission switching stations, including the scheduling for construction work plans.
Wolverine's ideal candidate will present strong analytical skills and the ability to manage specific design projects. A bachelor's degree in electrical engineering from an accredited university is required, with EIT registration preferred. You must have a working knowledge of electric utility systems and effective written and oral communication skills.
