Some of the responsibilities for the system operations engineer include:
Develop expertise with system modeling techniques used in the EMS system and PSS/e to ensure the model produces an accurate and useful result to support transmission system operations and planning to ensure all North American Electric Reliability Council (NERC) requirements are met.
Develop and implement standards for Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) system including descriptions, alarm thresholds, and operator response requirements.
Plan, schedule and coordinate planned maintenance activities requested by Engineering and Construction, the Member Cooperatives, Operations departments, and all other parties as required to maintain system reliability.
Provide input and engineering advice in the overall design and implementation of system improvements such as transmission lines, substations, and/or transmission switching stations, including the scheduling for construction work plans.
Wolverine's ideal candidate will present strong analytical skills and the ability to manage specific design projects. A bachelor's degree in electrical engineering from an accredited university is required, with EIT registration preferred. You must have a working knowledge of electric utility systems and effective written and oral communication skills.
