The Power Supply and Energy Resources Lead will integrate resource planning, power supply, and wholesale contract engagements for MVEC’s diversified power supply portfolio. They will provide administration, implementation, and optimization of the supply side, distributed, and demand side resource portfolio for the cooperative. The position will report to the VP of Energy Resources & Energy Services and work collaboratively across the cooperative and externally with power suppliers and stakeholders.
MVEC has a long successful history of resource and load management. We are looking for an individual who is passionate about serving members and delivering an energy portfolio to lead the energy transition.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Administration, cost management, and optimization of power supply, wholesale energy contracts, and energy market activity.
Develop and implement integrated resource planning models, load forecasts, potential studies, and retail rate analysis.
Build and execute the energy resource strategy including renewable and distributed energy resource analysis, design, and procurement.
Represent the cooperative and engage stakeholders on regional and regulatory matters related to energy resources.
Deploy load management and demand response products and programs, experience with advanced metering infrastructure and distributed energy resources management systems for load control.
Lead compliance with state energy, renewable, and carbon legislation and build a portfolio that optimizes future obligations.
Evolution and growth of the energy resource function.

Required Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in engineering, business, mathematics or a related field
Minimum of five (5) years' experience in utility power supply
At least five (5) years of progressive experience in the power/utility industry, reflecting an increasing scope of knowledge and responsibilities around resource planning, wholesale energy markets, load management, risk management and/or closely related activities within a utility setting
Strong decision-making and problem-solving skills. Possess excellent conflict resolution skills and the ability to multitask
Interpersonal skills including clear and concise communication both in writing and verbally
Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
Preferred Qualifications:
Thorough knowledge of the electric utility industry, business, and operations and understanding of FERC, NERC MISO, and state regulatory requirements and issues
Thorough knowledge of power supply and electric utility operations
Potential for future hybrid work schedule. The office is located in Jordan, Minnesota.
