Reporting to the Executive Director, the Director of Professional Development will primarily manage STLE’s offerings related to professional development and certification in both the US and abroad. Directs, develops, and administers all aspects of the member and/or public educational programs of the association. Assists members or member committees in the development and execution of their educational programs. Manage operational aspects of four professional certification programs, in cooperation with the respective certification committees. Be responsible for developing a budget for both education and certification functions.
Responsibilities:
Execute a strong strategy and implementation plan to ensure STLE provides professional development to meet the needs of the STLE community.
Continue to develop and revamp STLE’s online education programming to align with strategic plan and industry trends. Including but not limited to creating webinars, live programming and virtual courses.
Coordinate education courses in conjunction with the STLE annual meeting.
Oversee continuing standardization, and where possible professionalization, of all STLE course content (live and virtual).
Obtains services of prominent subject matter experts to assist in curricula development or presentation of association educational programs.
Conduct evaluations and assessments and prepare detailed management reports of managed programs/projects.
Manage all aspects of the Learning Management System and the certification examination platform.
Supervise professional development support staff.
Support STLE volunteers on education and certification content and implementation.
Work with all relevant STLE Committees to meet strategic goals.
Coordinate with marketing team on the promotion of all education and certification offerings.
Required Skills and Abilities:
Bachelor’s degree preferred.
3+ years of experience in similar position. Knowledge or experience related to associations or education a plus, including volunteer committees and instructors, training, and/or program development.
Ability to interact comfortably and professionally with members and potential members virtually and in person.
Capacity to address/resolve issues quickly, using excellent judgment on when to elevate issues to the staff leadership with a clear, thoughtful manner and “member first” service perspective.
Excellent time management skills and ability to meet deadlines, with flexibility in activities and duties based on STLE events and programs.
Strong computer skills with proficiency in Microsoft Office (especially PowerPoint) and working knowledge of utilizing an AMS (iMIS preferred) and LMS (BlueSky preferred).
Excellent oral and written communication skills.
Ability to travel to all required events related to STLE education and conferences.
