SUMMARY:
The Masters School seeks a flexible, creative educator to assist in building our Visual Arts Program to be a cutting edge, comprehensive and enticing program. We also strive to have a team player on board who will collaborate with our other arts faculty and other faculty across departments and divisions.
The ideal candidate is highly adaptive and has a commitment to keep up to date with media trends in education. They are eager to develop a curriculum that responds to those trends and leverages their experience and skills with an eye towards delivering a forward-looking program to students at Masters. A clearly articulated passion for film and technology is essential, and practical experience making and exhibiting art is a significant plus. The ability to collaborate and consult on projects throughout the school is key.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
This is a full-time position in a dynamic program with the intention to respond to evolving student interests and technological developments. The duties include a full teaching load, advising a group of approximately six students and co-curricular duties related to your area of expertise. The instructional part of the position is defined by teaching a variety of forms of digital media that balance artistic creativity with technical production and problem solving. Areas of study include digital composition in video/audio design; documentary and broadcast journalism; some film history/appreciation; computer graphics; and print publishing workflow. In addition, this person is responsible for managing the production of the School’s yearbook and collaborating in its award-winning broadcast.
In addition, this educator in this role is responsible for creating an open studio environment outside course meeting times to support independent discovery and learning. Generally speaking, this would mean being available on campus to facilitate student use of the media lab between during school hours and co-curricular activities. They are also responsible for communicating and collaborating with the Technology Department in regards to software and hardware needs of the program.

REQUIREMENTS:
Understanding of and desire to work with high school age students.
Knowledge of, or interest in learning about the artistic development of adolescents.
Demonstrated commitment to equity and inclusion and a high degree of cultural competency.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills and a proven ability to communicate with students, parents and colleagues.
Energy, enthusiasm and curiosity – willingness to be a fellow learner alongside students.
Interest in and aptitude for building new programs/classes/learning experiences.
Mastery of DSLR and video cameras, basic lighting equipment, basic audio equipment, Adobe Premiere, Adobe After Effects, Adobe Animate, Unity.
Knowledge of the demands of the professional field, and of the tools, technologies and resources inherent to the discipline.
Commitment to maintain and improve professional competence through one’s own artistic practice as well as attendance of professional development opportunities such as workshops and coursework.
At least a combined three years of direct experience in film/video/animation production or education.
Degree in Education and/or teaching credential preferred.
Advanced Degree in video and/or media arts preferred.
