The Hydropower System Principles Course Faculty play a crucial role in equipping participants with the knowledge and skills needed to excel in the hydropower industry and contribute to sustainable energy solutions. The Hydropower System Principles Course Faculty (HSP Faculty) is responsible for delivering comprehensive training sessions pertaining to hydropower system principles using already developed curriculum. We are looking for up to 8 faculty who will cover the following areas:
1. Introduction / Overview / Foundation / Water to Wires 2. Production Planning and Water Management 3. Dam Safety 4. Equipment, Engineering and Technology 5. Asset Management, including Reliability 6. Markets 7. Environment 8. Licensing/Permitting
This position involves meticulous preparation, effective presentation skills (in-person and virtual), a keen understanding of hydropower technology and its underlying principles, and an understanding and/or interest in utilizing adult-learning best-practices. The part-time HSP Faculty position will be contracted from September 2024 thru the end of 2025.
Responsibilities:
Delivery of the content: Conduct training sessions in a classroom or virtual environment, delivering lectures, leading discussions, and facilitating interactive learning activities. Ensure that course content is presented clearly and effectively to promote understanding and retention among participants.
Subject Matter Expertise: Demonstrate a strong understanding of hydropower system principles. Stay updated on industry trends, advancements, and best practices to enhance training content.
Participant Engagement: Foster a dynamic learning environment by encouraging active participation, addressing questions and concerns, and facilitating group activities or projects. Tailor instructional strategies to accommodate diverse learning styles and backgrounds among participants.
Assessment and Feedback: Provide constructive feedback and support to help participants enhance their knowledge and skills throughout the training program.
Continuous Improvement: Participate in regular meetings or evaluations to assess the effectiveness of course content and instructional methods, implementing adjustments as necessary.
Compliance and Documentation: Maintain accurate records of participant attendance, performance, and course evaluations for reporting and administrative purposes.
Qualifications:
Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to convey complex technical concepts in a clear and accessible manner. In-person, and virtual delivery.
Relevant experience in hydropower systems, engineering, environmental science, markets, US Energy policy or a related field.
Experience in adult education preferred.
Proficiency in educational technology and learning management systems (LMS) is advantageous.
Commitment to professional development and staying informed about advancements in hydropower technology and education methodologies.
