We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Meter Technician or Meter Technician Apprentice to join our team. This role is vital to ensuring the accurate installation, testing, maintenance, and repair of our cooperative’s meters and instrument-rated meter installations. The successful candidate will play a crucial part in maintaining our advanced metering infrastructure (AMI) equipment, supporting the cooperative’s mission of providing exceptional service to our members, and upholding our strong safety culture.
Key Responsibilities:
Install, maintain, and repair meter communication systems and equipment.
Execute and manage service orders for meter installations, removals, and maintenance.
Conduct field testing for meter accuracy and ensure the proper functioning of the Advanced Metering Infrastructure (AMI) system.
Provide technical support and assistance to other departments and personnel regarding metering issues.
Maintain inventory and ensure the availability of metering tools, materials, and equipment.
Participate in on-call rotations and assist in after-hours outages and other operational activities.
Ensure compliance with safety standards and contribute to the cooperative’s safety culture.
Qualifications:
Education: High School diploma or equivalent required. A technical school degree or college-level coursework in electrical, electronic, or automation technology is desired. Must either successfully complete the HEATS Meter Apprentice Program or have already completed an equivalent education program.
Experience: A minimum of four (4) years of relevant experience is required. Prior experience as a meter technician, electrical utility line worker, or industrial/commercial electrician is desirable.
Licenses: Must obtain a valid Indiana Class A Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) within 1 year of employment.
