Responsible for conducting moderate-level research, analysis and evaluation of all Eversource’s benefit programs (Health & Welfare, and Retirement) and provides recommendations to help ensure the Company retains a competitive benefits posture in the market place. Assists with the development of recommendations concerning the design, funding, administration and communication of corporate benefit plans consistent with all pertinent federal and state laws, regulations and administrative rulings. Leads various projects ranging from the design, implementation and communications of programs to the organization and execution of open enrollment. Interacts with Company professionals within Human Resources, Finance and Legal, as well as with vendors, actuaries and third-party administrators. Remains current with all pending and enacted legislation, as well as with new benefit trends, to ensure Eversource’s benefit programs remain in compliance and supportive of the Company’s employee value proposition.
Essential Functions:
Plans, conducts and oversees moderate research and administrative assignments.
Work with the HR operations team to help ensure smooth delivery of employee benefits, and occasionally offer expertise and guidance to HR Operations leadership on unusual and difficult customer requests.
Assists with the requirements needed to develop or enhance the HRIS system.
Recommends new, or revisions to existing, benefit programs including the design, funding, participation, communication, administration and carriers.
Serves as the project manager and oversees the work of internal resources, as well as that of insurance carriers and other third-party administrators, concerning the introduction and implementation of new or revised programs.
Maintains up-to-date expertise about developments in benefits plan design and administration.
Remains current with pending or enacted legislation and provides management with necessary recommended changes to ensure existing benefit programs are in compliance with federal or state laws.
Participates in the completion of actuarial valuations, premium statement reviews, discrimination testing, open enrollment and special studies and benchmarking as required.
Consults on benefit communications programs including employee/participant facing communications and internal operations administration support documents.
Works with various aspects of the Eversource Health Plans and Retirement Plans including research, design, finance and administration and ensures the privacy of plan participants’ protected health information in compliance with the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA).
Contribute to the development and maintenance of Plan Documents and Summary Plan Descriptions for all plans.
Participate on other HR related projects as assigned.
Requires moderate knowledge of ERISA, DOL, IRS and state codes
Ability to conceptualize and review standard financial analyses
Ability to meet agreed upon set of developmental goals for this position
Strong communication and presentation skills
Ability to use PC desktop applications (e.g., Microsoft Word, Excel, Project Management and HRIS Applications)
Education:
Bachelor’s Degree in Business, related discipline or equivalent experience
Experience:
Minimum of five (5) or more years of experience in benefit program design and administration
Licenses & Certifications:
CEBS; Benefits Certification preferred
Working Conditions:
Must be available to work emergency restoration assignment as required.
Must be available to travel between MA/CT/NH as necessary.
