POSITION ANNOUNCEMENT: Part Time Lower School Music Teacher (leave replacement Spring 2025)
Saint Ann’s is a non-sectarian K-12 independent school in Brooklyn, NY looking for a part-time (3/4) Lower School Music Teacher to begin teaching January 6, 2025 through June 13, 2025 with a transition week December 16-20. A school that exists to serve talented, intellectually accomplished and curious students, we seek faculty who are passionate about their subject and able to convey both information and a love of learning to children. The Saint Ann’s Music Department is a group of passionate musicians who want to share and make music with children. Our Lower School students develop an understanding of music through experiences in singing, playing Orff instruments, performing rhythms, moving to music, composing, and listening.
Saint Ann’s does not give grades or compare students to one another. We write anecdotal reports twice a year for students. Embracing and describing each child’s individual experiences in the classroom is a cornerstone of our school.

RESPONSIBILITIES
Plan and generate general music lessons for kindergarten classes and one third grade class
Co-plan and co-lead weekly kindergarten class sing-a-longs
Collaborate with other third grade music teachers for an end-of-year grade performance
May include accompanying on piano one or more of the following choruses: Third, Fourth and Fifth Grade Chorus, and Middle School Singers
Write end-of year anecdotal reports for the spring semester
Attend all Music Department and faculty meetings scheduled on the school calendar
Communicate with Music Department chair and division Heads (head of kindergarten, head of Lower School, head of Lower Middle School, head of Upper Middle School) with any questions or concerns about students and the classroom
PERSONAL AND PROFESSIONAL REQUIREMENTS
BM or BA in Music Education or equivalent experience
Experience teaching or working with children is helpful but not required
Love of teaching general music
World music specialty or familiarity with Orff/Kodaly
Solid piano skills
Passion for educating children through an inclusive lens
Strong interpersonal skills; ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing
Comfort singing and moving with children is essential. We seek a musician who is passionate about engaging with children using music. We seek a musician who thrives on the creative energy of children.
COMPENSATION
This is a part time (¾ time) exempt faculty position with a competitive compensation package including benefits. Full-time annual salary range of $60,000 to $100,000, adjusted based on the start date and hours, commensurate with education and experience.
