JOB DESCRIPTION
The Residential Energy Advisor provides DREMC members with energy efficiency recommendations, residential audits, inspections, and advice on lowering electric bills through efficient practices. This position works with DREMC members to ensure they are aware of available rebates and incentives through DREMC and the Tennessee Valley Authority (TVA).
RESPONSIBILITIES
Internal Responsibilities: Assist the MSR team with high bill complaints and questions as requested. Work within the Communications Department to ensure members have accurate information regarding available programs and services.
External Responsibilities: Communicates with members, contractors and TVA program representatives on available energy efficiency programs. Stay up to date on federal, state and local regulations that may impact residential program offerings.
PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES
Consistently demonstrates a behavior that supports DREMC’s 11 Essential Attributes.
Manages and coordinates the cooperative’s residential energy-efficiency programs to TVA, national and local government standards.
Coordinates new home rebates, heat pump inspections, energy audits, and residential solar projects.
Ensures all required paperwork and reports are generated and provided to TVA and members.
Conducts in-person workshops to provide members with information on DIY home energy-efficiency projects when requested by DREMC.
Consistently demonstrates knowledge of all TVA programs, proactively identifies members who could benefit from participation in applicable programs and effectively communicates requirements and processes to interested members.
Provides content for publications as it relates to residential energy-efficiency, solar, and TVA programs for all communication platforms.
Analyzes and confirms accuracy of various daily, monthly, and annual reports.
Participates in community functions, schools and other related events to promote applicable electric industry and energy efficiency related content.
Emergency response coverage as needed.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
Education — High school diploma or equivalent required. Associate’s degree for basic understanding of mechanical or electrical engineering, or related technical degree or equivalent preferred.
Experience — Minimum of three (3) years of experience in one or more of the following: electric utilities, building maintenance, HVAC work, or construction. Tennessee Licensed Electrician preferred.
Certification/License, etc. - Must possess a valid Driver’s License. Must be eligible and remain insured as a driver by the Cooperative’s group liability policy for the automotive fleet. Must obtain the Home Energy Advisor Certification through TVA within 1 year. Must obtain the North American Board of Certified energy Practitioners (NABSEP) certification. May be required to attend other training related to residential and solar programs to stay current on applicable industry standards.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities — An understanding of the electric utility industry required. Aptitude to gain an in-depth knowledge of the residential program offerings is essential to success. Possesses excellent oral and written communications skills and the ability to communicate with a variety of internal and external contacts. Working knowledge of residential construction standards, HVAC operations, and energy-efficiencies are required. Must demonstrate knowledge of the National Electric Safety Code requirements as they pertain to heat pump installation in homes and businesses. Must possess the ability to stoop, squat, climb, access crawl spaces, and lift or carry objects between 25-60 pounds. This position can be exposed to outside weather conditions. Must always adhere to DREMC safety policies and practices.
