St. John’s is seeking an experienced, dedicated, and dynamic individual to serve as Teacher of Grades 7 and 8 Mathematics. A bachelor’s degree from four-year college or university is required in field of mathematics or mathematics education. A master’s degree is preferred. This individual is responsible for the math instruction, curriculum development in mathematics, and extended classroom activities associated with mathematics.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
We are seeking a high-energy teacher with a passion for working with students. This person must be able to teach a developmentally appropriate and challenging curriculum. The essential duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:
Provide academic subject instruction in math, ensuring that curriculum map and schedule are followed. Specific areas of focus include Pre-Algebra, Algebra I, and Geometry.
Plan for class activities, including preparing units and daily lesson plans, identifying materials to implement class activities, preparing class projects, giving students feedback on completed work to ensure mastery of presented material, and grading of tests and assignments in a timely manner.
Confer with other teachers concerning cross-curricular opportunities.
Communicate with parents on a regular basis about schedule, assignments, events, and individual student needs. Meet with parents during scheduled conferences during the school year.
Maintain grades and curriculum assessments online.
Attend faculty meetings with division director and curriculum meetings as needed.
Exhibits enthusiasm for mathematics, engineering, and STEAM.
Collaborates as a team player with teaching colleagues and administration.
Sees the school as a community.
Supports school by attending school sponsored events and activities.
Commits to ongoing professional development via workshop attendance and webinars.
Learns new skills and integrates technology as changing pedagogy dictates.
Models self-disciplined and ethical behavior.
Other duties as assigned by the Head of School.
