Houston Country Club, located in the prestigious Tanglewood area of Houston, Texas, is seeking a Golf Course Superintendent to join their exceptional team. This individual will work closely with the Director of Greens and Grounds, Billy Weeks, to ensure the highest standards of course conditioning and member satisfaction.
In July 2026, Houston Country Club will embark on a comprehensive golf course and bayou renovation project, guided by a master plan developed by renowned architect Andrew Green.

McDonald & Sons for earthwork.
Leibold Irrigation for irrigation system installation.
The bayou portion will be managed as a separate initiative.

ABOUT THE CLUB:
Houston Country Club, established in 1908, is one of Houston's and the country’s most prestigious private country clubs.
Originally designed by noted course architect Tom McNamara, its golf course was relocated and redesigned by Robert Trent Jones Sr. in 1956. The last major golf course renovation was completed by Coore/Crenshaw in 1987. Known for its exclusivity and high standards, the club offers a range of amenities, including a golf course favored by elite players, tennis courts, fitness facilities, a swimming pool, high-end dining, and social spaces such as card rooms and cocktail bars.

The Superintendent will be involved with the Green & Ground Committee meetings with the expectation that they give the golf course update at each meeting (bi-monthly).
This position will be highly involved in all construction meetings for the 2026 renovation.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES, KNOWLEDGE, APTITUDE AND OTHER TRAITS:
Agronomy and Turfgrass Science: Expertise in managing warm-season grasses, especially in the Gulf Coast climate.
Irrigation Systems: Comprehensive knowledge of modern irrigation systems, including design, installation, and maintenance.
Golf Course Renovation: Experience with large-scale golf course construction and renovation projects.
Environmental Practices: Familiarity with sustainable practices and compliance with environmental regulations.
Leadership and Team Management: Ability to lead and develop a cohesive, high-performing team.
Communication: Strong interpersonal and written communication skills to interact with members, staff, and vendors.
Administrative Skills in preparing and managing budgets, forecasting expenses, and controlling costs.
Problem-Solving: Proficiency in identifying and resolving challenges effectively and efficiently.
Attention to Detail: Ensuring the course meets exacting quality standards.
Adaptability; Responding to unexpected weather or project conditions with creative solutions.
Time Management: Prioritizing tasks to balance daily operations with long-term project responsibilities.
Teamwork: Collaboration with and HCC departments to foster a high functioning and positive work environment.
Professionalism: Representing the club in a manner that reflects its prestige and high standards.
Passion for Golf: Genuine enthusiasm for the game and understanding member expectations.
Work Ethic: A strong commitment to excellence and continuous improvement.
Educational Credentials: Degree or certification in agronomy, turf management, or a related field preferred.
Experience: A minimum of 5-7 years in a leadership role at a premier club or facility, with prior renovation experience being a strong asset.
Human Resources: Consistent enforcement of HR policies in accordance with the HCC employee handbook and Green & Grounds department guidelines and standards. *To recruit, hire, train, and retain the most qualified staff.
Safety: Maintenance of a safe environment for HCC members, staff and the community, following industry best practices.
COMPENSATION & BENEFITS:
Salary: $100,000-$115,000
