We are seeking a dynamic and strategic Vegetation Manager to help lead our Vegetation Management (VM) efforts, working alongside a dedicated team to support long-term initiatives and improve safety, efficiency, and environmental stewardship.
Position Overview: As the Vegetation Manager, you will be responsible for the strategic planning, execution, and oversight of Vegetation Management (VM) initiatives across transmission rights-of-way, substations, and facilities. Your work will focus on safety, customer satisfaction, quality improvement, and regulatory compliance. You will collaborate with internal teams and external contractors and stakeholders to mitigate wildfire risk and ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations.
What You’ll Do:
Planning and Scheduling
Develop and implement long-term VM strategies across our service territory.
Manage VM activities based on regional vegetation types and environmental needs.
Set performance targets in collaboration with District Managers, Crew Foremen, and VM contractors.
Lead technology adoption and process improvements within the VM program.
Oversee daily, weekly, and monthly administrative duties related to VM operations.
Compliance and Regulatory
Ensure adherence to industry standards, including NERC, ERCOT, PUCT, and local regulations.
Promote safety and compliance with OSHA rules, training requirements, and environmental considerations.
Collaborate with the Regulatory Compliance team to implement safety and operational protocols.
Conduct annual training for VM contractors, ensuring compliance with necessary certifications and industry standards.
Wildfire Risk Mitigation
Lead the Wildfire Risk Mitigation program for Transmission Maintenance, including the use of advanced technology to assess and mitigate risks.
Conduct field audits to ensure vegetation management efforts meet wildfire risk reduction goals.
Serve on the Wildfire Risk Mitigation Task Force, representing Transmission Maintenance interests.
Budget Preparation
Prepare and manage annual VM budget for all activities, balancing in-house and contractor resources.
Oversee contractor relations, RFPs, RFQs, and multiyear supplier contracts.
Analyze bids and make recommendations aligned with strategic objectives.
Operations Management
Lead VM tactical operations across facilities, meeting performance targets and operational goals.
Troubleshoot and remove obstacles to ensure efficient project completion.
Provide technical expertise to internal teams and contractors. Address public inquiries, concerns, and complaints regarding VM activities.
Foster relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including landowners, to resolve issues related to transmission line rights-of-way.

What You’ll Bring:
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Forestry, Arboriculture, Business, or a related field.
Experience:
Minimum 5 years of experience in utility vegetation management or a related field.
At least 5 years of management experience is preferred.
Certifications:
ISA Certified Arborist or Certified Forester.
Texas Department of Agriculture Non-commercial Herbicide Applicator’s License
