Assists in the legal representation of the organization and to manage such legal representation as directed by the General Counsel, Associate General Counsel(s), and other departmental attorneys.
- Maintains familiarity with legal issues involved with various aspects necessary to the operation of all Divisions within the Cooperative, with particular focus on applicable Regional Transmission Organizations (RTOs).
- Under supervision of General Counsel and Associate General Counsel(s) drafts documents, performs research and provides advice to appropriate Cooperative personnel.
- Assists, as directed, with governance and subsidiary management.
- Maintains familiarity with Arkansas Public Service Commission laws, rules, and regulations, as well as Federal Energy Regulatory Commission and RTO laws, rules, and regulations, including the ability to advise the organization on the interplay between State/Federal issues.
- Prepares pleadings and represents AECC at administrative hearings in association with General Counsel and Associate General Counsel(s).
- Assists, as directed, with legal advice and support related to compliance and regulatory efforts (both State and Federal), land management, fiber/broadband, and utility financing.
- Provides, upon request, legal advice and transactional support to other Divisions within the Cooperative, Arkansas Electric Cooperatives, Inc. (AECI) and its subsidiaries.
- As directed, provides informational or substantive legal assistance to the Members Cooperative through their general managers, staff or legal counsel.
- Assists, as directed, in conducting litigation on behalf of AECC and AECI or monitoring the conduct of such litigation by outside legal counsel.
- Represents, whenever appropriate, the General Counsel at meetings with other organizations or at legal proceedings involving the Cooperative.
- Due to our obligation to provide continuous, reliable electric service to our customers, the ability to maintain regular and punctual attendance and the ability to work outside your regularly scheduled office hours when necessary is an essential function of the job.
- The ability to handle stress and work well with others are essential functions of this position.

Minimum Qualifications
Juris Doctorate from accredited US law school.
5 years total experience including 3 years in the electric utility industry.
REQUIRED CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
- JD degree from accredited US law school with excellent academic credentials.
- Licensed to practice law in Arkansas, or capability to become licensed in Arkansas within one (1) year of hire date.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
Preferred candidates should have experience and familiarity with administrative law concepts applicable to an Electric Cooperative, Municipal Utility, State Public Service Commission, the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission, or a Regional Transmission Organization.
Strong knowledge of regulatory frameworks governing the utility industry including regulatory agencies, lending institutions, transactional, and other legal disciplines.
Effective personal skills to produce good working relationships with people in many situations.
Ability to express oneself clearly both verbally and in writing.
Ability to perform multiple tasks simultaneously.
Proven experience in document drafting, the legislative process, business law and administrative law.
This role demands strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to communicate complex legal provisions clearly to non-legal stakeholders.
This position may be eligible for remote work, consistent with Cooperative Teleworking Management Guidelines, but must be able to work at the Little Rock office as needed.
