Christ Episcopal School in Rockville, MD, a diverse community serving students from Preschool through grade 8, is seeking a dynamic middle school English and Social Studies Teacher for the 2025-2026 school year. Our school is known for its warm, welcoming community and small, engaging classes.
The ideal candidate would be interested in joining a collaborative school community, providing a positive and challenging learning experience for each student, using differentiated learning strategies, integrating technology into the curriculum, and demonstrating a positive and flexible attitude. This person would embrace the families at the school and demonstrate a passion for helping middle school students develop socially, emotionally, and academically. A team-oriented person is a must.
The curriculum focuses on interdisciplinary learning and critical thinking. Writing is a strong focus as students prepare narratives, persuasive essays, business letters, poetry, and research papers using the 6+1 Writing Traits curriculum. Grammar and vocabulary are intentionally taught as well. This teacher will also be the advisor for a middle school class and help implement the advisory program focusing heavily on SEL.
A successful candidate for the position will have:
An Undergraduate degree (master's preferred) in elementary or secondary education.
Minimum of 2 - 3 years of English/Social Studies teaching experience preferred
An ability to differentiate instruction across subject areas
Experience with using technology in the classroom
A desire to work as part of a team
Good time management skills
Initiative, creativity, and flexibility
Strong written and oral communication skills, especially interacting with parents of students
A proactive and positive attitude
A high level of energy
A strong interest in the social-emotional well-being of middle school students
Successful candidates for all positions at CES must successfully complete a required background check.
