At Southwestern Electric Cooperative, we power more than just homes - we power communities, progress, and possibilities. As our Accountant, you'll play an essential role in our financial operations, ensuring accuracy, integrity, and efficiency in all things related to finances.
Essential Duties:
Manage the general ledger coding for all transactions and supporting documentation.
Record adjusting journal entries to the general ledger.
Daily monitoring of cash activities and posting miscellaneous deposits.
Support the Accounting Manager and CFO with the management of cash flow, monthly, year-end, and ad hoc financial reports, and the development, implementation, and maintenance of annual budget.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in accounting or business, with an accounting focus.
Three years of financial accounting experience is required. Previous electric utility accounting experience and knowledge of RUS accounting principles, including work order procedures, preferred.
Exceptional attention to detail and a high level of accuracy in record keeping is required.

Formed in 1939 with a loan from the Rural Electrification Administration (REA), Southwestern Electric Cooperative, Inc. (SWECI) is a not-for-profit, member-owned cooperative located in Southwestern Illinois. Southwestern Electric Cooperative serves nearly 23,000 residential, commercial, agricultural and industrial member accounts in parts of Bond, Clay, Clinton, Fayette, Effingham, Macoupin, Madison, Marion, Montgomery, Shelby and St. Clair Counties. Headquartered in Greenville, Illinois, the co-op maintains nearly 3,500 miles of power line, employs more than 80 people, and owns a 47-megawatt peaking plant.
