Key is seeking a Middle School Learning Specialist to join our Learning Department for the 2025-2026 academic year. The successful candidate will understand their impact on student learning and seek out professional development and support to increase their effectiveness. They will understand their role as an instructional leader, use interventions that are grounded in research to support student learning, and have a passion for culturally responsive teaching, experiential learning, and differentiated instruction.
Job Responsibilities
Student Academic Support and Intervention
Monitor students for learning needs and potential academic support and communicate with outside professional support as needed.
Review and interpret students’ educational evaluations
Create and implement student support plans
Provide direct academic support for students including teaching Workshop classes and providing individual or small-group support in tandem with classroom teachers
Administer selected diagnostic testing
Implement concussion protocols
Collaborate with Lower School Learning Specialists to support students moving from Lower to Middle School
Oversee on-campus tutoring schedule
Teacher Support
Work with faculty on support plans and instructional accommodations
Conduct student observations and provide faculty support
Plan professional development for faculty in consultation with the Director of Curriculum and Instruction
Program and Curriculum
Work with teachers to develop and modify curricular materials and assessment practices
Collaborate with School Counselor to develop and deliver grade-wide SEL lessons
Parent Support and Education
Communicate directly with families regarding learning and academic support
Provide referrals for outside academic support and/or evaluation
Plan and support parent education programs related to academic support and learning profiles
Administrative Responsibilities
Review admissions files and work with Middle School Admissions Committee as needed
Orchestrate all aspects of annual standardized testing across the Middle School

Qualifications
Minimum requirements include a Bachelor's degree in the field of education (a Master’s Degree in special education or related field preferred)
Minimum of 3 years experience working with students in a resource or instructional role.

Key School follows a Faculty Equity Scale that recognizes direct years of experience that correlate to the steps on the scale. The salary range for this position is $46,820-$88,305 and is based upon several factors that include, but not limited to, the candidate’s year of work experience, education and skills. There are additional opportunities on campus for coaching and various stipends, as well.
Technical Competencies
All candidates for teaching positions should be familiar with learning management systems such as Seesaw and Google Classroom and have the ability to create and deliver engaging multimedia content using a variety of digital tools. Key is a Google Workspace for Education school. Candidates should be proficient in using Google applications, have a solid understanding of cloud-based storage and file-sharing platforms, and efficiently manage email and scheduling using Gmail and Google Calendar. They should be proficient in virtual communication tools such as Zoom or Google meet and have basic troubleshooting skills to resolve common technical issues that may arise in the classroom.
Work Schedule/Travel
Occasionally, there may be school functions that will require your presence to work flexible hours, including nights and/or weekends. Additionally, participation in scheduled faculty meetings is required.
