Horace Mann School seeks an experienced Physics Teacher in its Upper Division to cover a temporary anticipated leave. The full-time position is expected to start October 6, 2025 and end January 18, 2026. Teaching responsibilities will include a full course load consisting of four Introductory Physics classes that will cover forces (1-D and 2-D), circular motion, gravitation, work and energy, and impulse and momentum. Each class has an associated weekly lab. Candidates will have a deep understanding of their subject as well as a love of teaching. In particular, candidates will have a demonstrated interest in teaching high school students (3 + years teaching experience is preferred) and an enthusiasm for working with students and helping them to develop scientific reasoning and literacy skills. Teachers in the Science Department and on the Physics Team collaborate with each other to share ideas and resources and to develop curriculum. We are committed to our continued professional growth in science and teaching. An advanced degree in a science discipline is preferred, and prior teaching experience is required. The expected salary range for this position is $1,768 - $2,768 per week, with the final determination based on experience, education level and other job-related factors.
