Specific Responsibilities:
Develops and implements curriculum and unit plans
Demonstrates thorough knowledge of teaching practices and a commitment to teaching within a caring, highly academic environment
Works with families and communicates in a clear and supportive manner
Stays abreast of current educational research and best practices
Promotes field of Math and Science education within school community by creating school events, participating in interdisciplinary projects, developing field trips, and building connections with local communities
Serves as an advisor specifically for a homeroom class and other students as needed
Partners with the Fourth Grade team to foster academic, social/emotional, and cognitive growth for all students

Required Education & Experience:
A Bachelor’s Degree, with an emphasis in elementary education or related subject areas from a four-year college or university required
Master’s Degree in elementary education or related areas preferred
3+ years of combined teaching experience required
Experience in teaching Math and Science at the upper elementary level
Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:Knowledge of current trends and research in learning and assessment
Flexibility and adaptability to meet the needs of all learners and the program
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Ability to maintain confidential information
Ability to work collaboratively in team situation
Ability to work efficiently in a Microsoft Windows environment using Microsoft Office, master common automated systems for record keeping, and learn new technology
Ability to work and communicate well with all levels of faculty and staff
Ability to work and communicate well with students and their parents
Some travel required (field trips)

Sets clear expectations for classroom and extra-curricular operational processes and procedures (i.e., grading/reporting procedures, attendance policies, homework and class work expectations, student behavior, etc.)
Observes laws and the school’s policies, procedures and regulations which have application to and implication for the professional’s responsibilities
Is familiar with and complies with all policies and regulations as put forth in the school’s documents
Since safety and security are everyone’s responsibility, takes all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, faculty, staff, equipment, materials and facilities
Participates in Elementary division planning and middle school department meetings
Participates in Committees as required/desired
Helps with recess and lunch duties as needed
Performs other duties as assigned
