POSITION ANNOUNCEMENT: Second Grade Music Teacher— Part-time, leave coverage (Spring 2025 semester) Saint Ann’s is a non-sectarian K-12 independent school in Brooklyn, NY looking for a part-time second grade Lower School General Music teacher to teach from September 2025 to January 2026. A school that exists to serve talented, intellectually accomplished, and curious students, we seek faculty who are passionate about their subject and able to convey both information and a love of learning to children. The Saint Ann’s Music Department is a group of passionate musicians who want to share and make music with children. Our lower school students develop understanding of music through experiences in singing, playing instruments, performing rhythms, moving to music, composing, and listening.
Saint Ann’s does not give grades or rank students, instead teachers write twice a year anecdotal reports for each student. Embracing and describing each child’s individual experiences in the classroom is a cornerstone of our school.

RESPONSIBILITIES
Plan, generate, and lead general music lessons for second grade.
Coordinate with other second grade teachers, as needed with curriculum, and help to prepare a full grade “Sing” in December (approximately fifteen minutes of music).
Help maintain and care for a shared music Lower School Music studio.
Attend Lower School Back-to-School Night on October 23.
Write mid-year anecdotal reports for all students.
Attend all Music Department and other faculty meetings scheduled on the school calendar.
Communicate with the Music Department Chair and the Lower School division Head with any questions or concerns about students and the classroom.
PERSONAL AND PROFESSIONAL REQUIREMENTS
BM or BA in Music Education or equivalent experience
Experience teaching general music
Love of teaching general music
World music specialty or familiarity with Orff/Kodaly
Solid piano skills
Passion for educating children through in inclusive lens
Strong interpersonal skills; flexibility and a sense of humor
Comfort singing and moving with children is essential. We seek a musician who is passionate about engaging with children using music. We seek a musician who thrives on the creative energy of children.
COMPENSATION
This is a part time exempt faculty position with a competitive compensation package including benefits. Full time annualized salary range of $ 60,000 - $100,000. Part time rate of $3,000 - $5,000 per unit commensurate with education and experience. Number of units to be determined with a max of 5 ?.
