As a System Operator, you'll be at the forefront of maintaining and operating our Bulk Electric System (BES) and will play a crucial role in ensuring the stability and reliability of our energy grid!
As a System Operator at AECI, you'll be at the heart of our operations, ensuring the stability and reliability of our Bulk Electric System (BES) in real-time. If you're looking for a challenging yet rewarding role where you can make a real difference, then AECI is the place for you!
What you'll do:
Monitor and Operate the AECI portion of the Bulk Electric System, ensuring everything runs like a well-oiled machine.
Operate the Transmission System to maintain proper voltage profiles and System Operating Limits, preventing any instability or outages.
Juggle the delicate balance between demand and resources within our Balancing Authority Area.
Work closely with a diverse team, from Power Marketers and Shift Supervisors to System Operators at other power companies.
Execute real-time reliability-related tasks to maintain system reliability.
Implement and perform tasks to keep the system stable.
Communicate effectively with various personnel, ensuring the safe and reliable operation of the BES.
Cross-train in areas not directly related to your own job duties to enhance overall team versatility.
What you’ll need:
Exhibit proficient knowledge of the Bulk Electric System within and surrounding AECI’s service area Flexibility to work rotating shifts.
Demonstrate a high level of knowledge about transmission operations and generator theory and operations.
Typically, have 2-5 years of experience as an Associate System Operator, with job level dependent on performance.
Ability to work closely with internal and external teams.
Ideally will possess valid North American Electric Reliability Corporation (NERC) System Operator Reliability Coordinator certification credentials.
