Villa Academy seeks a full-time Fifth Grade Teacher to join its team beginning August 19, 2025. As one of two Fifth Grade Homeroom Teachers, this educator will be responsible for dynamic, inquiry-based English/Language Arts (ELA) and Science education for the grade. They will create a safe, inclusive, and engaging learning environment that supports the academic and social-emotional development of Villa’s youngest Middle School students across this very important transition year, moving from Villa’s Lower School into our Middle School program. This is a ten-month, salaried-exempt position that follows the academic calendar, reporting to the Director of Middle School.
The ideal candidate is a passionate and experienced educator who brings expertise in teaching English/Language Arts and Science, along with social-emotional and executive functioning skills to upper Elementary or early Middle School students. They are attuned to the developmental needs of preadolescents and are committed to creating a classroom culture where each student feels seen, valued, and empowered. The candidate will be excited to contribute to a highly relational, collaborative team, and is an expert in interdisciplinary, inquiry-based learning grounded in respect, curiosity, and critical thinking. They will serve as a trusted Homeroom teacher, the primary contact for Homeroom students’ families, and may also teach a section of Fifth Grade Math (based upon need and qualifications.)
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
Teach Fifth Grade ELA and Science in an integrated, inquiry-based format aligned with school and national standards, including Common Core, NGSS, SSSI, and Learning for Justice.
Serve as one of two Fifth Grade Homeroom Teachers, fostering a positive classroom environment and acting as the primary point of contact for the section’s families.
Partner with the other Fifth Grade Homeroom Teacher, Villa Learning Support, Villa Counseling, and the Middle School Director to support students academically, socially, and emotionally as they transition into Middle School.
Design and implement differentiated, student-centered, inquiry-based lessons that emphasize collaboration, critical thinking, creativity, and communication.
Participate in Middle School activities, including overnight trips and extracurricular events.
Create a supportive classroom culture that emphasizes respect, responsibility, and inclusion.
Incorporate social-emotional learning into daily instruction to help students develop self-regulation, empathy, and problem-solving skills.
Establish clear expectations for behavior and cultivate a safe, respectful, and nurturing classroom environment.
Effectively partner and communicate with families, colleagues, and administration to appropriately challenge and support students.
Collaborate with colleagues to share best practices and improve instructional strategies.
Integrate technology and hands-on activities to enhance learning experiences.
Regularly assess, evaluate, and provide feedback on student performance.
Participate in faculty/staff, grade level, and division meetings, and perform other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:
A Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education, English/Language Arts, Science, or a related field; Master’s degree and/or teaching credential preferred.
3+ years of teaching experience with upper Elementary or Middle School-aged students.
In-depth understanding of, and experience with, inquiry-based learning in education settings.
Dedication to fostering social-emotional growth by supporting self-regulation, empathy, and problem-solving skills.
Experience with and appreciation for purposeful play, as well as a solid foundation in interdisciplinary, STEAM-focused, and project-based learning.
Ability to utilize outdoor spaces to introduce children to nature and facilitate connections between them and their environment.
Proficiency with instructional technology including document cameras, interactive whiteboards, web-based learning software, and Google apps.
??Excellent communication skills to support working with students, families, faculty/staff, and campus partners.
Positive energy and enthusiasm for working in a Preschool through Eighth Grade, faith-based independent school.

SALARY RANGE AND BENEFITS:
Anticipated salary ranges between $53,561.80 – 123,167.22/year, dependent upon education and experience.
