In this position, you will play a crucial role in designing, preparing, and reviewing plans and specifications for both distribution and transmission substations. Your responsibilities will include ensuring our cooperative's adherence to industry standards, as well as preparing project specifications and cost estimates. The ideal candidate will possess strong technical skills and keen attention to detail. Engineer level within the job family will be determined by qualifications and experience.

As a not-for-profit generation and transmission cooperative, we provide electricity to 24 rural electric distribution cooperatives and one municipally owned electric system serving eastern South Dakota and western Minnesota. Design, prepare and review plans and specifications for distribution and transmission substations.
Ensure the cooperative's compliance with internal, federal and state standards.
Prepare project specifications and cost estimates.
Operate Auto-CAD and other related software.
Participate on cross-functional teams, collaborating with others to ensure effective project management.
Showcase Your Knowledge, Abilities, and Expertise. Do you have?
Bachelor's degree in engineering, electrical engineering preferred.
Working knowledge of applicable industry standards (IEEE, RUS, NESC, NEC).
Professional Engineer (PE) license preferred; combination of education and experience considered.
Excellent communication skills and ability to develop positive working relationships.
Demonstrated proficiency with Auto-CAD and MS Office products.

East River Electric Power Cooperative is a not-for-profit generation and transmission cooperative. Our main campus is located in Madison, South Dakota and we also operate eight regional service centers across a service area that covers 40,000 square miles. We deliver wholesale power to our members, which include 24 rural electric distribution cooperatives and one municipally-owned electric system in eastern South Dakota and western Minnesota.
