JOB DESCRIPTION
Duck River Electric Membership Corporation (DREMC) is seeking a dedicated, energetic and community-oriented Member and Community Engagement Liaison to serve as a vital connection between our members, government-affiliated resources—including the Tennessee Valley Authority (TVA) and the communities we proudly serve.
This dynamic role is central to enhancing member engagement, communication, promoting access to public benefit programs, and strengthening DREMC’s community presence. The ideal candidate will be a skilled communicator with a passion for service, collaboration, and innovation in the electric cooperative space.
JOB DESCRIPTION
Internal Responsibilities –Responsible for managing all residential government-affiliated entities including all applicable TVA and maintaining open communication with DREMC regarding all changes and updates related to these programs. The position maintains productive relationships with other DREMC departments and responds to inquiries and requests in a timely and professional manner.
External Responsibilities –Supports DREMCs mission, programs and services. The position maintains productive relationships with affiliate organizations, cooperative members and represents the cooperative at community events.
Principal Accountabilities:
Government & Program Liaison
Act as the cooperative’s primary liaison with TVA and other relevant federal, state, and regional government agencies and partners involved in member-facing programs, including energy efficiency, renewables, and public benefit initiatives.
Communicate and coordinate cooperative participation in projects, grants, or incentives that support member services and community development.
Ensure accurate interpretation and application of guidelines, policies, and compliance requirements related to programs administered through TVA or other public entities.
Monitor emerging governmental opportunities or regulatory changes that may impact members or cooperative operations.
Community Engagement
Represent DREMC at public forums, schools, civic meetings, and community events to foster strong relationships and elevate the cooperative’s community profile.
Develop and manage outreach initiatives that align with DREMC’s mission, including volunteer efforts, energy education, and sponsorship of local events.
Identify and cultivate partnerships with community organizations, educational institutions, and economic development entities to advance workforce development, sustainability, and local growth initiatives.
Member Communication
Collaborate with internal teams to craft and distribute compelling, informative content across newsletters, social media, website, and other platforms that connect members with cooperative news, TVA and government program opportunities, and energy solutions.
Support the planning and execution of communication campaigns regarding rates, cooperative updates, energy-saving programs, and community initiatives.
Serve as a conduit for member feedback, concerns, and ideas—ensuring these insights are relayed to the appropriate teams to drive continuous improvement in DREMC’s programs and services.
Emergency response coverage as needed.
Aiding in monitoring social media channels
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
Education — A high school diploma or equivalent is required. Bachelor’s degree in communications, public relations, community development, or a related field (or equivalent experience) is strongly preferred.
Experience — 3+ years of experience in member relations, community engagement, public affairs, or a related role.
Certification/License, etc. - Must possess or be able to obtain a valid Tennessee Driver’s License. Must be eligible and remain insured as a driver by the Cooperative’s group liability policy for the automotive fleet.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities — Proficient with Microsoft Office products is required and familiar with digital communication tools (e.g. social media, email marketing platforms). Strong interpersonal and communication skills; ability to present effectively to groups and engage with diverse stakeholders. Commitment to public service, member satisfaction and an understanding the cooperative principles and the TVA partnership is a plus.
