Position Summary-
This position is responsible for coordinating tasks and projects within SCADA Operations to monitor and operate the electrical system.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities-
Excellent member service focus through the development of operational communication strategies and leadership.
Ensure compliance responsibilities within Distribution Operations Control Center
Lead operations performance improvement execution and process integration for the Distribution Operations (Control) Center
Responsible for the motivation, coaching, and mentoring of departmental personnel, evaluating their performance, and identifying strengths and weakness within core and technical competencies while developing activities, training opportunities, goals, and objectives to improve them.
Accountability for providing timely and effective operational communications to internal and external stakeholders, through maintaining the electric system functional integrity
Resolve customer complaints and answer customers' questions regarding SCADA Operations management policies and procedures
Supervise the work of office, administrative or customer service employees to ensure adherence to quality standards, deadlines, and proper procedures, correcting errors or problems
Provide employees with guidance in handling difficult or complex problems and in resolving escalated complaints or disputes
Implement corporate and departmental policies, procedures and service standards in conjunction with management
Discuss job performance problems with employees to identify causes and issues and work to resolve problems
Train and instruct employees in job duties and company policies or arrange for training to be provided
Evaluate employees' job performance and conformance to regulations and recommend appropriate personnel action
Interpret and communicate work procedures and company policies to staff
Develop and manage department budget
Establish work priorities and activities
Recommend promotions, transfers, hires, terminations and other disciplinary action
Establish metrics and prepare monthly reports
Meet with Board of Directors committees
Coordinate activities with other departments
Prepare and present status of department programs to Board of Directors committees and the Board of Directors
Adhere to and train personnel on applicable North American Electric Reliability Corporation policies and procedures
Lead technical discussions on complex system issues, making recommendations and suggestions to management and users
Monitor system performance and resource scheduling
Coordinate the addition of distribution automation devices to the system
Plan implementation of training and training simulators
Stay abreast of advances in technology
Demonstrate regular and prompt attendance
Performs other related duties as necessary or assigned.
Supervisory and/or Leadership Responsibilities-
A full range of supervisory activities, training, evaluation, counseling and recommendation for termination. This includes, but is not limited to, effectively communicating organizational policies and other information to subordinates, ensuring that employees have a clear understanding of their responsibilities.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities-
Knowledge of business and management principles including strategic planning, resource allocation, leadership techniques and budgeting
Knowledge of using computer systems, which may include setting up and using hardware and software programs, entering data or processing information
Knowledge of NERC, Federal Energy Regulatory Commission and Electric Reliability Council of Texas
Knowledge of principles and processes for providing customer service
Skilled in monitoring and managing performance
Skilled in establishing and communicating performance expectations and metrics
Skilled in time management
Skilled in managing changing priorities
Skilled in anticipating, identifying, analyzing and resolving conflict and problems
Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing
Ability to listen and understand information verbally and in writing
Directly related experience may substitute for education
Three years related work experience
Three years of supervisory experience
Registered Professional Engineer in the State of Texas preferred
Valid Texas driver’s license
Advanced degree in strategic or crisis communications (preferred)
Experience leading and being accountable for providing timely and effective operational communications to internal and external stakeholders, through maintaining the electric system functional integrity. This is accomplished by analyzing both scheduled and emergent changes to the system, ensuring their correct representation within the OMS operational models to ensure maximum continuity of electric service and operational communications to members. (Preferred)
Experience leading Estimated Time of Restoral (ETR) performance and process improvement initiatives and projects. (Preferred)
Working knowledge of Distribution Operations Center software tools: OSI; EMS, OMS, DMS. ARCOS resource management platform (Preferred)
