The Manager, Renewable Origination will work out of the Glen Allen, VA office and manage the commercial and development aspects of renewable power, storage technologies, and environmental allowances. This individual will stay abreast of current market trends in wind, solar and other renewables, storage technologies and environmental allowances. In this highly impactful role, the individual will manage the procurement, sale and tracking of renewable energy certificates (RECs), environmental allowances, participate in auctions, prepare economic analysis and participate in contract negotiations.
Essential responsibilities include:
Managing renewable and battery origination by serving as the main contact for National Renewables Cooperative Organization (NRCO), leading meetings, supervising NRCO-led Requests for Information (RFI) and Requests for Proposals (RFP) and managing projects
Managing market functions emission allowances and Renewable Energy Certificates (REC) through developing and maintaining solid commercial relationships with key marketing and trading suppliers; negotiating, reviewing and executing contracts; and participating in environmental auctions
Maintaining current knowledge of renewable, storage and environmental allowance technology, market, and regulatory market changes
Managing renewable, storage and environmental allowance purchase and sales contracts
Performing economic evaluations for development of renewables, storage technologies and environmental products
Support ODEC’s renewable communications
Work Experience:
Minimum 5 years energy industry experience
Critical Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Must have working knowledge of regional renewable and battery markets; market rules and regulations; inter-regional transmission system operation.
Must have a detailed understanding of economic modeling/simulations principles, practices and quantitative analysis techniques.
Maintain knowledge of FERC’s anti-market manipulation requirements and related business rules.
Intermediate level proficiency of Excel
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Math, Business, Economics, Engineering or related technical/analytical degree or equivalent experience
Travel details: Occasional travel required
Working Conditions and Physical Demands:
Ability to enter data using hand-eye coordination and look at a computer monitor for long periods of time
Interact effectively with others through oral communication in person, over the phone and via video chat and in writing via email, text and Microsoft Teams chat
Work full days (8 hours) in an office environment and work weekends during peak periods
