The VP, Engineering is responsible for the formulation of Long-Range Plans, Annual Work Plans, Sectionalizing Studies, Load Studies; coordinates switching operations with interconnected electric systems; and establishes engineering designs and standards. Prepares contracts for large power installations; investigates abnormal commercial and industrial billings and complaints. Coordinates design and layout of large power installations. Prepares and submits data for requirements of national, state and local regulatory agencies.
The VP, Engineering is responsible for the staking of new construction and work plan projects by supervision of the Staking Technicians. He/she is responsible for the preparation of substation justification studies and various other studies as required by East Kentucky Power or other agencies.
The VP, Engineering hires, terminates, appraises, and recommends salary adjustments within the wage and salary plan for personnel in the department. He/she participates, as a member of the President/CEO’s staff, in developing the organizational structure, objectives, policies and procedures, retail rates, and overall Blue Grass Energy budget and annual work plan.
The VP, Engineering performs the engineering services involved in the design construction and other instruments pertaining to the engineering details required by RUS, such as inspection and certification to all new construction accounted for under the Work Order procedure, as a prerequisite to obtaining an advance for funds for the construction.

This position requires a person capable of organizing, directing, and coordinating. He/she should have a thorough knowledge of utility engineering and management practices. Minimum of five years’ experience required. Professional Engineer is preferred.
