Green Hedges School seeks a part-time experienced technology teacher for the 2024-2025 school year. Green Hedges is a private independent preschool through Grade 8 school with approximately 190 students. The School is located in Vienna, VA, which is fourteen miles west of Washington, DC.
The technology teacher position is an exciting opportunity for an individual, dedicated to the academic, social, and emotional growth of young learners, to join a dynamic teaching faculty. The technology teacher must be eager to inspire students in Grades 1-8 to learn about computer science and robotics in addition to working closely with classroom teachers to facilitate the integration of technology in the classroom.
Requirements:
Undergraduate degree or in progress in science, technology, or education-related field
A high level of energy and a strong, positive classroom presence
Excellent time management and organizational skills
Initiative and ability to collaborate
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Facilitate developmentally appropriate learning around technology for K-8 that utilizes traditional and new tools to promote student agency and responsible use; technology curriculum includes but is not limited to, digital citizenship, robotics, coding, media creation, and digital literacy
Provide educational opportunities that empower students to become critical and interdisciplinary thinkers, enthusiastic tinkerers, and problem-solvers
Work collaboratively with classroom teachers to assist them and their students with lessons and projects that require technology integration or design thinking principles
Work with the IT Administrator to create and deliver faculty in-service training on the topic of technology integration into the curriculum
Communicate with parents about how the use of technology is enhancing the learning experiences in the classroom
