The Development & Advancement Coordinator reports to the Head of School and is responsible for both the strategic leadership of fundraising and the day-to-day operation of the school’s Development Office, including outreach, retention and communication, engagement with Alumni; and interface with the Development committee. This position is a key partner with the Head of School in creating and executing the overall development/ school advancement program as well as in planning and coordinating special strategic philanthropic and fundraising initiatives at the School.
Responsibilities Include:
Identify, cultivate, solicit and steward leadership and major donors to achieve desired results to advance School priorities and accomplish overall fundraising goals; set annual fundraising goals and establish levels of giving;
Partner with the HOS and Development Committee in the development of fundraising strategies and goals;
Oversee and support day-to-day development and alumni engagement activities to include Advancement Services and Operations, Annual Giving, Alumni and Parent Engagement, Events, and Special Campaign Coordination. Organize, plan and effectively utilize trustees and volunteers to execute on fundraising goals;
Establish, maintain, and grow relationships with major donors
Apply for grants or funding programs to support the school;
Welcome new families, help to create connectedness to mission, and to educate the school population about giving opportunities and fundraising goals;
Plan and prepare the development calendar with the Head of School in advance of the new fiscal year; act out and coordinate events and auctions per calendar.
Report to and become a thought partner with the HOS, as well as attend trustee meetings to provide regular reports and updates on Development goals;
Coordinate with the leadership of the School and the parents’ association in the development of community-wide programs and events, to bring focus to return on investment, vs time/energy costs to volunteers; and consolidate efforts on broader initiatives;
Oversee all Development mailings and communications related to the Annual Fund, special funds, and specific campaigns;
Maintain and update mailing lists and accurate donor records and/or database;
Monitor the pledges, commitments, and follow through of donors; Prepare the Annual Report and handle acknowledgements of all gifts for the HOS;
Serve as a representative in professional organizations, such as ADVIS, The Friends Collaborative, and the Friends Council on Education; and others, as needed
Support other administrators as needed with problem solving, phone duties, recess coverage, and student supervision.

Ability to demonstrate leadership that inspires and motivates others and hold individuals accountable for the accomplishments of objectives.
Thorough grasp of the current trends in development, alumni and external engagement.
Experience working within comprehensive fundraising campaigns is a plus.
